Remember when Wednesdays meant there was a fresh alt-weekly newspaper in the newspaper box on the corner?
In it you found faces you recognized — of your friends and maybe even yourself. Mirror Indy’s new arts and culture newsletter is an ode to that magic, which is why it will hit your mailbox every Wednesday at noon. You can read or listen to it!

PLAY LIST: Your top 5 Mirror Indy arts and culture stories
From the looks of it, you have a sweet tooth and like to know what’s up in Indy.
Can you believe it? We’ve been sharing arts and culture content with you for a full year now. More than 50 writers and artists have told us about Indy’s music scene, food offerings, places to be and people to know. Together we lived, we laughed and we loved.
While planning for 2025, I wondered what stories our readers enjoyed the most, you know, so we can do more of that. Turns out you really like food stories. Here are the top 5 most read stories:
- 9 Black-owned sweet shops in Indy to satisfy your cravings
- A new historical marker tells the story of Indy jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery
- Dive into downtown Indy during the U.S. Olympic swim trials
- New westside restaurant brings a fresh twist on European cuisine
- Catch eastside restaurant Tlaolli on ‘Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives’
I also asked some of my work pals to tell me what their favorite stories were this year. Listen to hear about our 12 favorite stories that we published this year.
