Resisting cruelty through art
Plus, a Chreece playlist, kids these days and a big party for a tiny gallery.
Last year, Indy Art Center and Patchwork Indy, a nonprofit that works to improve the lives of refugees, kicked off a partnership where immigrants from different countries are paired to curate an art exhibition.
Mirror Indy interviewed Jean Claude Lofenia, who is from the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Saw Kennedy, from Myanmar (officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, also known as Burma) and published the story in English, Congolese French and Burmese.
This year’s exhibition, “Resistance to Cruelty that Never Ends: An Afghan and Ukrainian Multicultural Art Exhibit,” features Iryna Bondar, a Ukrainian multimedia artist and Abdul Qahar Behzad, a self-taught Afghan artist.
This time, we worked with translators from Patchwork Indy to share this story with Indy-based readers whose first language is Ukrainian or Dari (Afghan Persian).
Of course, the story is published in English too.
