Remember when Wednesdays meant there was a fresh alt-weekly newspaper in the newspaper box on the corner?
In it you found faces you recognized — of your friends and maybe even yourself. Mirror Indy’s new arts and culture newsletter is an ode to that magic, which is why it will hit your mailbox every Wednesday at noon. You can read or listen to it!

Hello and happy Wednesday,
Time for a rundown of what’s going on in arts and culture in the city this week. There’s plenty. But, before we get to that, I’d like to put some events on your radar.
We hope you will join us at any of these:
- 6 p.m. TONIGHT, July 23, 10 East Arts Hub — Real Talk: Chat N Chew - Artist Town Hall Edition invites artists to share the real deal of what it’s like to be an artist in Indianapolis. Discussions will include pay equity and what artists need to succeed. If you’re an artist, it’s not too late to sign up.
- 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at State Street Pub — Mirror Indy Presents: The Play List Variety Show (The Circus is Back in Town!) What to expect here? Music by FUQUA, Cathy Morris singing about cats and Made Man Improv performing one of Mirror Indy’s Culture Journals. Plus, burlesque by Haute Hunny and our favorite puppet guy, Matt Holzcom.
- 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, at Kan-Kan Cinema & Restaurant — Mirror Indy will screen: ProPublica’s “Before A Breath,” a film that follows three women determined to make pregnancy safer.
