Remember when Wednesdays meant there was a fresh alt-weekly newspaper in the newspaper box on the corner?
In it you found faces you recognized — of your friends and maybe even yourself. Mirror Indy’s new arts and culture newsletter is an ode to that magic, which is why it will hit your mailbox every Wednesday at noon. You can read or listen to it!

Hola amigo
Whats up Play Listers,
We are in the midst of what is officially called “National Hispanic Heritage Month.”
Some people prefer to call it Latino or Latine Heritage Month because it welcomes more people.
The word “Hispanic” describes someone who is from a Spanish-speaking country, or something related to Spain. And because many people from Latin America speak other languages, the term is not always correct.
Latino/a/e simply describes someone who is from or related to Latin America.
Anyway, when people stop me on the street and ask me about my Hispanic heritage, I usually answer, “You mean my Latine heritage,” and wink in Nahuatl.
In today’s arts and culture news, we have some ways to celebrate Latino heritage in our city, but also other things.
